Egypt’s Sisi to start four-nation Africa tour Monday

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is set to start a four-day African tour Monday, a statement by the presidency read Saturday.

Presidency spokesman Alaa Youssef said El-Sisi will visit Tanzania, Rwanda, Gabon and Chad.

El-Sisi will hold bilateral talks with leaders of the named African counties, with the aim of addressing common challenges facing the continent. He will also discuss updates on regional issues related to preserving security and welfare.

According to the presidency, the visit comes as part of Egypt’s “keenness for continued bolstering of relations with the African continent in all fields, intensifying of coordination and communication with its African brothers, as well as boosting cooperation with African countries on all levels, especially economic and trade ties.”
